Yes, it does. What do you do, start in 5th gear. If you do and I don't believe you do. That would kill, your bike in short order. Your a troll.
References :
You will not hurt the bike by just blashing along in 5th gear. In fact if the speed across the ground is high then you need to be in (top) 5th gear or the engine would be over reving. The same road / ground speed in 4th gear would be reving the engine (much higher) too high for the same groung speed. So 5th is ok unless you slow down (way) too much in 5th and then accelerate, don't do that as the engine speed will be too low and the engine will labour, shift down for the lower ground speeds and up as the engine screams and the ground speed has increased, ie. as you are building up the speed.
References :
i ride a 125 yamaha and have been ridin it sence i was 9 and im now 18 i always shift because u will get up to a higher speed faster and think what it is doin to ur clutch for it to put power down at such a high gear u need high rpms and if u use the clutch to get the rpms up then u r gonna be replacin a clutch a lot sooner than u want

my advice just learn how to shirt then u can start doin wheelies and if u think goin fast is fun get on one wheel it is better!! trust me
References :
The only reason to down-shift is if you need to go slower and the engine speed is too slow, or if you need the extra power/torque that a higher revving engine would supply. Even on a big road bike at highway speeds, during a passing situation, I like to down-shift a gear or 2 to put the engine in a higher revving mode just in case I want an extra burst of speed.
References :
35 years of riding experience...

THin of it the same way you would if you had an airsoft gun that is always cocked, it may not hurt it but it stresses things more than necessary
