How do i fix it? Its a honda XR70R the throttle is built into the hang grip on the right side of the handlebars. When i start the bike choked all the way it runs idle pretty damn loud, and when i bring the choke off and keep my hand off the throttle it gets louder as if im reving it as hard as i can in neutral, im afraid to switch into first gear because it sounds like something is stuck and its giving it wayy too much gas so if i switched into first it might jerk me forward and just send me flying. I took apart the carb and cleaned it out yesterday and i also cleaned the air intake too and i flipped the bike over this morning and drained the gas then refilled it. When i flipped it back over there was oil leaking from the plastic that holds the air intake, the leak seemed to stop, but the idle problem is the only thing holding it back from running now…can anyone help me figure this one out? My dad mentioned a choke screw in the carb that maybe i shouldnt have so tight, then again he
isn’t always right so thats why im asking here. ANyone ever have this problem…plz tell me i didnt break the throttle flipping it over lol.
i flipped it over because thats wht yahoo answer told me to do smarta$$…secondly if you could tell me which one is the fuel line then maybe i wouldve pulled it but i tried pulling all the lines and then turning my fuel knob to reserve and nothing happened after 2hrs so i flipped it over okay?
At least it runs now….i obviously fixed it…theres just one problem left now, the gas is stuck on full flow…
The gas knob has 3 settings ON, OFF, and RES (reserve) on ALL THREE SETTINGS it does the same thing, the bike starts and has the problems described above. Key words "ALL THREE" that means with the gas knob turned to OFF it still starts and still sits in idle like im gunning the hell out of it event ho im not touching anything.
why would you flip the bike over to drain the gas ?just disconnect the fuel line from the tank,
make sure your throttle cable has some free-play in it,check that the linkage at the carb is free,(moves when you twist the throttle)check all your fluids, being "flipped over" aint good practice, get a manual from your library and reset your carb(s)
